Lincoln had just arrived in Washington after a grueling two-week journey to our nation’s capital. Lincoln keeps his right hand clenched in all five poses, since it was severely swollen from shaking so many hands on trip. If you look closely you can see Lincoln holding an opened pocket watch in his hand.
